Introduction

Just like many books have an introduction, I decided to begin this blog the same way. I have enjoyed reading for as long as I can remember. My parents instilled a love of books in me by reading to me from a very young age. I remember countless picture books from my childhood from “If You Give a Moose a Muffin” to “Sheep in a Jeep.” As I grew older, my dad would read chapter books to me. Inevitably, he’d finish a chapter and I would beg him not to stop, but it was bedtime and he’d laughingly refuse and say, “That’s the beauty of a chapter book!” I loved hearing his voice read “The Chronicles of Narnia” and “The Boxcar Children.” My mom had almost the complete collection of “Nancy Drew” from her childhood. I poured through those books and my sister and I would see who could finish more books first! There hasn’t really been a time where I have stopped reading, only slowed down. For instance, when I was in college (being a history major, I read tons of books, but very few for my own personal enjoyment), or when I had my two sons within two years (my book club was the only thing that kept me reading). At the beginning of 2015, I found myself coming out of the fog of intense baby days (my sons were 2 and 1) and having the desire to read and read A LOT! Since then, I have grown my enjoyment into a love and passion. I currently read my monthly book club book, children’s books for my sons and a variety of books for my own enjoyment. One thing I probably like just as much as reading a good book is talking to my friends and family about it! What is it about a good book that makes you want to share it with everyone you meet? That is part of why I’m starting this blog; I want to share the good (and the bad) books with you and maybe you’ll enjoy them (or dislike them) as much as me. I also want to record my thoughts so I can remember what I liked or didn’t like about each book, or how my sons felt about their books. I hope that you enjoy my thoughts and opinions and I’d love to hear yours. There are few things as wonderful as a book discussion!

All the best,
Abbey
